Our Community Partners
The Alexander Science PSW program partners with Wellnest Los Angeles to provide intensive mental health support to our students. Their therapists meet with students at our school site to provide intake services, individual therapy and family counseling. Services with Wellnest LA can continue beyond the school term for students who need extra support.
ASCS partners with the Institute for Nonviolence in Los Angeles to provide peer mediation training to our 4th and 5th grade students. Their peer mediation training program builds SEL aligned skills, by increasing students self efficacy, self-management, and social awareness. Our peer mediators are trained to resolve conflicts and build positive relationships among students. These students take on leadership roles in our school with the support of the PSW.
Alexander Science has partnered with the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge Program for over 9 years. The Kids Heart Challenge is a fun and exciting event where students learn about their heart while helping others by raising money for the American Heart Association. It prepares students for success through physical and emotional well-being
In early 2020, the ASCS PSW program collaborated with UCLArts & Healing to host a bilingual English-Spanish workshop for parents and mental health practitioners from the neighborhood surrounding our school. The workshop, "Raising Successful, Connected, Happy Kids through Art" hosted by author Erica Curtis, focused on building the social-emotional skills of children utilizing art-based techniques.
